21st Century Skills: How do we get there?
The video,21st Century Skills: How do we get there?, does an excellent job of asking the question, but I would like to know the answer. My role in education has varied from classroom teacher, to trainer of teachers, to administrator of a PD program and now I am a School Board Member, yet I still seek the solution. The problems of funding, professional development, up-to-date equipment have no easy resolution. Sure I have many ideas of how, but they all seem to have barriers of time, money, and opposing views of the majority. I would love to see a video that addresses how to get past the barriers and move into the act of preparing our students for the time in which they will live as adults that they may prosper as productive citizens. Although we are living in 21st Century our children are going to a classroom not much different than the 19th Century. OK, some have reached the 20th Century, because classrooms have been updated from the chalk board to the white board and from the overhead to a computer and project, maybe even document camera. Sadly, the method of presentation hasn't changed to meet the demand of the child.
