Derek Peterson gave a highly interactive presentation visually representing a web of support to show how we can protect our children from the drugs, violence, depression, and more. We were involved in recalling, labeling and defining the strings (assets) that all kids need to succeed. Data from numerous studies demonstrated what kids need to grow up healthy, caring and successful. His work offers a memorable, meaningful and
measurable test that supports communities in helping kids thrive. Again, Madeline Wyatt flashed into my mind. Her support and care our her students were many strings of the web.
ASBA is sponsoring Derek as he travels around the state to work with community members as they explore their responsibility to youth. The results of this gathering will be included in a book, written by and for the people of Arizona, which will be widely distributed to the public on the Centennial Anniversary of Arizona’s Statehood, February 14, 2012.
I can't wait for Derek to come to Cochise County. I personally invite you all to participate in this high energy activity to show how we can be the web of support for the children who attend Tombstone USD.
